SUBWAY AND TRANSPORTATION LINKS
MTA(New York City)-Metropolitan Transportation Authority, head company that runs most of the busses, the subway trains and the Staten Island trains in New York City, the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad and several tunnels and bridges in the city of New York.
(NYC)TA -Branch of the MTA that is responsible for the operation of all MTA buses and subways in the city of New York. Known offcially as NYCT(New York City Transit).
SIR(T)-Staten Island Railway(or Staten Island Rapid Transit),This is the only public railway in the borough of Staten Island. It is operated by the NYCT. It was formerly owned and operated by the B&O(Baltimore and Ohio) Railroad.
LIRR- Long Island Rail Road, MTA commuter railroad that connects Long Island communities in Suffolk and Nassau counties to Brooklyn, Queens and Penn Station in midtown Manhattan.
MNRR/M NCRR(MetroNorth [Commuter] Rail Road), MTA commuter railroad that connects communities in southern Connecticut, southern New York State and northen New Jersey to Hoboken Station(Hoboken), New Jersey or Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan.
NJT-New Jersey Transit, operator of all public transportation in the state of New Jersey. Many trains, buses and trolleys are operated under this state-wide transit provider.
PATH- Port Authority Trans-Hudson Railway, commuter subway operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. It provides train service between Newark Penn Station, Jersey City and midtown Manhattan and the World Trade Center.
SEPTA(Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority), provider of all public transit in the Greater Philadelphia region. In addition, it provides limited bus and train service to certain areas of northern Delaware and southern New Jersey.
PATCO(Port Authority Tansit Company), A regional rapid transit railway operated between Center City Philadelphia and Lindenwold, New Jersey by the Delaware River Port Authority.
MBTA(Massachussetts Bay Transportation Authority), provider of all bus, electric coach, train and trolley service in the Boston area.
CTA(Chicago Transit Authority), operator of all bus and el/subway service in the city of Chicago.
WMATA(Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority), provider of all bus and subway service in the Washington D.C area.
MMTA(Maryland Mass Transit Authority), overseer of public transportion for the state of Maryland.
MTA(Baltimore)Mass Transit Administration, operates all bus, subway and light rail operations in the city of Baltimore and the MARC commuter system.
BART(Bay Area Rapid Transit), regional rapid transit railway that connects San Fransisco and Oakland to various other communities in the Bay Area.
MUNI(San Fransisco Municipal Railway), operator of all buses, electric coaches, trolleys, cable cars and light rail in the city of San Fransisco.
DART(Dallas Area Rapid Transit), provider of public transit buses and light rail in the Dallas region.
MARTA(Metropolitan Atlanta Transportation Authority), operator of all bus and subway service in the Atlanta region.
MTA(Los Angeles), operator of all bus, subway and light rail in Los Angeles County.
TRTA(Tokyo), operator of most bus and subway operations in Tokyo, Japan.
